As the only person at Kontent Films that actually enjoys (i.e. LOVES) horror films and in the spirit of the 2010 Halloween season, I jump into the blogosphere with my top 10 favorite horror films. As all horror fans know, we sit through a ton of crap to glean the occasional truly entertaining film. Horror can be scary, bloody, lurid and funny, all the rules can be broken and it’s why I love the genre. If you have any recommendations on films I should see, please let me know.
10. The Vanishing – The Dutch version. Spooky 9. Texas Chainsaw Massacre – Anytime they say “based on a true story” I’m in 8. Army of Darkness – I have a crush on Bruce Campbell. Gimme some sugar baby. 7. A Nightmare on Elm Street – Sccccratch! and Johnny Depp cameo – woot! 6. Hostel – Hero dies in the first 15 mins? WTF!? Go Eli Roth! 5. Audition – Japanese horror films = no boundaries. I had to look away a few times 4. Shaun of the Dead – Zombies and Simon Pegg = genius 3. Halloween – Jaime Lee Curtis rules 2. Silence of the Lambs – Some people would argue it’s not a horror film but I think it’s terribly scary. 1. The Exorcist – Devil voices FREAK me out. Blame it on my Catholic upbringing.
