Narrated by Robert Redford and directed by award-winning filmmaker, Mark Decena, WATERSHED is an important documentary about saving the once-mighty Colorado River and exploring a new water ethic for the New West. We are pleased to announce the World Premiere of WATERSHED at the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital on March 24, 2012 at the National Museum of American History at 3 pm. The film will be introduced by Robert Redford and a panel discussion will follow after the film to address what can be done to restore the Colorado River Basin.

Thank you in advance for getting involved and Happy World Water Day!

The message of the movie was clear that with a small sacrifice, the Mexican wetlands can be restored to their past glory. Assuming the Republicans stay out of power this can easily be accomplished. But I wonder once the population doubles whether the sacrifice is enough. Perhaps it is time to say that there MUST be a minimum amount of water that must enter Mexican soil.
It is a forgone conclusion that the population will increase in the southwestern US.
When will we have the conversation that talks about limiting growth, aka limiting population? The main problem facing the entire world is too many humans. This can easily be solved with knowledge: fewer kids, family planning, postponing child births, contraceptives and voluntary sterilization.
I am teaching an afternoon program about water ecosystems
Part of the focus is about the Colorado river
We have created a model of the river that include where water flows into the river as well as where water is taken out
The kids have the opportunity to make changes in the system to investigate what could be done to change the flow
I would love a DVD copy of this movie to show them what has actually happened
How can I obtain a copy?
That is great news to hear Rose. Thank you for getting in touch with us. You can obtain a copy of the DVD on our film’s official website here. Have a great screening with your students, and please pass the word to more of your teacher friends.
