Hot Springs Documentary Film Institute
This Sunday October 16th, filmmaker Sam Green will be a part of the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival’s events and workshops. The first event will be a panel discussion about live media and performance making their way into documentaries. The second is a retrospective screening with three of his acclaimed short films. Here’s one of them above, Pie Fight ’69.

Noon- Media and the Future of Documentary Panel (Screening Rm, 823 Central, Free)
Documentary filmmaking is often on the forefront of technology, as projects may often require long recording formats or unusual filmmaking situations. Live media and performance is also sneaking its way into documentary film circles. This panel includes Bart Weiss (Dallas Video Fest Founder), Sam Green (The Weather Underground), Lisa Cole (Lioness) and Nick Carrao (Come On Down and Pick Me Up).
6:00PM- Sam Green Retrospective (Screening Rm, 823 Central, $5)
Visiting guest filmmaker, Sam Green, will be on-hand to present three of his acclaimed short films, Pie Fight ’69, World’s Largest Shopping Mall and The Universal Language.
Sam Green is best known for The Weather Underground, which was nominated for an Academy Award in 2004, and his cutting-edge live performance documentary, Utopia in Four Movements.
